Knowledge checkpoint: Describe, using an example, what is meant by joint demand

Joint demand occurs when the demand for one good or service is directly related to the demand for another. This means the demand for two or more goods is interdependent or complementary. For example, the demand for smartphones is closely linked to the demand for apps. When more people buy smartphones, the demand for smartphone cases also increases, illustrating joint demand.
